Wired // Re-Wired (2026) (WIP)
Still figuring out these pieces and how to represent the endless energy required as well as how the brain is re-wired when you are pregnant/have kids. Stripping the cable has become a meditative process, creating the space to think it all through. It doesn’t need to be said really but I feel I have to: I adore my children and would do it all again and that this work isn’t about them. It’s about being stuck in the part of grasping how you don’t know more before you have kids, how there isn’t the right kinds of words or support structures in the world to soften the transition, how you’re expected to carry on as if nothing has changed. In a recent BBC article, research shows that pregnancy has a profound structural impact on the brain, which essentially primes it for the whole new set of skills you need to learn. Continuous care also creates these changes so it’s not just about birthing children.
