Wired (2026)

Wired is a nod to John Latham’s idea that ‘language is only one of five pipes that put us into connection with what is going on’. It’s impossible to describe with words what the early days are like with young children. Whilst being, for me, the most beautiful time, it was simultaneously impossibly demanding. This snapshot of the pouring of frazzled, endless energy into the family is my attempt to visually articulate that time. The wires were salvaged from skips: the cable-stripping process to retrieve the red and blue wires created a meditative and reflective time. This piece was made in conjunction with another piece called Rewired.

Both pieces were shown at And Yet It Moves at Moving Gallery, Sunderland.
