Made in response to my experience of Helix Arts' Artist Agency program that I was fortunate to get on in summer 2023. Travelling to Newcastle on the metro, on my own, was the first bit of space I had away from the home and work in over four years due to having children just before and during the Covid pandemic.

Years later, it is hard to comprehend how intense that time was. Covid restrictions plus the natural and normal limitations that happen when you are caring for small children, created very little space to relax. The metro journey was that space. The tangible tickets in my hands felt so powerful and also acted as a ‘pass’ to be in the role of artist outside of being a mother and working.
